Welcome to Kosetsu Bunko
Kosetsu Bunko is an independent publishing imprint dedicated to the literary works of Junya Bunno, including modern retellings of classic Buddhist texts such as the Vimalakīrti Nirdeśa Sūtra.
The word “Bunko” (文庫) in Japanese refers to a literary collection or compact imprint—typically devoted to meaningful, accessible works. Kosetsu Bunko is such a collection, carefully curated with words that seek to enlighten, resonate, and endure.
The name “Kosetsu” (好雪) is drawn from a Zen saying:
“Kōsetsu henpen betsusho ni ochizu.” (好雪片片不落別處)
(A fine snow—each flake falls where it belongs.)
In Zen, this poetic line expresses the quiet perfection of nature’s harmony—how even the smallest element finds its proper place.
For us, these “snowflakes” are a metaphor for words. Each “word flake” we publish carries the hope that it will land exactly where it is needed, reaching those who are meant to receive it.
“May the word flakes fall into their proper place.”
